Sabrina Carpenter surprises her fans with the announcement of a new album. "Man's Best Friend" is scheduled for release on August 29th.
A few days after the release of her new single "Manchild," Sabrina Carpenter (26) has announced her new album . Her seventh studio album, titled "Man's Best Friend," is set to be released on August 29, the Grammy winner announced on Wednesday.
According to Variety, Carpenter flipped through a collection of vinyl records by legendary artists like Donna Summer, ABBA, and Dolly Parton in an Instagram Live session for the announcement before finally unveiling her own new work. The provocative cover shows Carpenter kneeling on the floor while a person in black pants grabs a section of her blonde hair.
Carpenter had already released the lead single "Manchild" as a precursor to the album. The song, which she co-wrote with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, immediately catapulted to the top of the US charts. The biting lyrics about an immature man were underscored in the accompanying music video . In it, Carpenter hitchhikes across the American countryside, encountering various incompetent men along the way, until the entire video descends into chaos. The singer herself poetically describes the song as "a mental montage of the very confusing and funny young adult years." It embodies "a loving eye roll" and feels "like a never-ending summer road trip."
Successes with "Short n' Sweet""Man's Best Friend" marks Carpenter's return almost exactly one year after the release of her chart-topping album "Short n' Sweet" in August 2024. That album became a true phenomenon: With its three singles "Espresso," "Please Please Please," and "Taste," she became the first female artist ever to occupy the entire top three spots of the UK Singles Chart. The album sold ten million copies worldwide and earned Carpenter six Grammy nominations. She triumphed twice at the awards ceremony, winning both the "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Best Pop Solo Performance" awards for "Espresso."
